AcademicRecruits.com runs showcases for men's basketball prospects. Our Recruiting Showcases are designed to give you all the tools you need to develop a proactive strategy that will help you assume ownership of the recruiting process and increase your recruiting exposure.
- The format of our Recruiting Showcases will consist of a short period of shooting
drills, along with longer periods of 1 on 1 (3 dribble restricted half court as well as
full court) and full court 3 on 3. This means that kids can't get missed, nor can
they hide. You can click here to see examples of what our format looks like.
- We will film everything, and we will create a full highlight video of each attendee
and upload that video to You Tube. You can click here to see an example of a
highlight video.
- We will invite small college coaches and local scouting services to each showcase
(note: we have no way to know how many coaches and scouting services will
attend, which is one reason why we will film everything).
- We will produce a special scouting report for each showcase that will go out to the
475 top academic schools in the nation.
- All attendees and their families will benefit from a recruiting seminar/question
and answer session with Coach Pete and invited guests.
- The $150 price of attendance includes the AcademicRecruits.com Basic Package,
which will allow each attendee to create an on-line profile and to have access to
our internal database of contact information for 2000+ college coaches at top
academic schools.
July is currently the only period during which NCAA division one schools can evaluate prospects outside of the scholastic season. Because of this, and because July coincides with prospects' summer vacations, NCAA certified events in July are by far the biggest and best-attended events of the non-scholastic season. Given the size of these events and the number of college coaches in attendance, there's a popular misconception that July is the time to "get discovered" and that simply joining a team that competes in certified events will somehow solve all recruiting-related issues.
The reality, on the other hand, is that many if not most college coaches don't attend events in July in an attempt to "discover" kids; rather, they attend events to evaluate the kids they've already identified as viable prospects. Additionally, many coaches also attend events primarily to "baby sit" the very small number of kids they have pre-determined to be a legitimate top priority recruit and don't even bother to do a whole lot of evaluating. The point is that it's a serious mistake to rely solely on the statistically unlikely possibility that you'll happen to play your best just when the rare college coach who actively evaluates everyone and enjoys discovering new talent pokes his head into the gym.
Every single college coaching staff in the country sits down in June to formulate their travel plans for July. In these meetings, coaches finalize a list of high priority kids they will follow or "baby sit" all throughout the month of July out of a somewhat bizarre and misguided notion that recruits will choose the school that most loyally attends that particular prospect's games in July. Additionally, most college coaches will develop a "backup" list of kids they intend to find out more about and evaluate in July. Needless to say, if colleges add your name to this backup list and make specific plans to come see you play in July, you are miles ahead of the game. As such, we strongly advise a proactive approach to the recruiting process because piquing a college coach's interest prior to the start of the July period provides an incalculable recruiting advantage over the kids who enter July wishing to be discovered.
The under-appreciated statistical reality of hoping to be discovered in July is the genesis of the AcademicRecruits.com Recruiting Showcases. Through these showcases, all attendees will have the tools and the opportunity to help promote and market themselves to college coaches well ahead of the July period commencing.
The price of attendance is $150, and it includes all of the above mentioned benefits. We feel that in terms of increasing exposure and recruiting interest, there is no better value on the market than the AcademicRecruits.com Recruiting Showcases.
